Gage Coprivnicar is running for City Council in Garden City
With several years of leadership experience under his belt, Gage is here to encourage smart urban development and social support programs through policy. As a daily user of the Greenbelt, he sees the need for improvement and maintenance and is ready to advocate for it. Vote for Gage November 4th!
Maintaining our Greenbelt
The Garden City Greenbelt is a core part of what makes our city shine. However, years of constant use have led portions of the path to deteriorate. The Greenbelt is used and enjoyed every day by hundreds - including Gage himself - and it’s the job of the city to keep it in great shape.
As a City Council member, Gage will put our public dollars to work repairing and upkeeping this vital part of our infrastructure. This would include fixing or replacing run-down bridges, maintaining bike repair stations for our cyclists, and ensuring the Greenbelt remains easily accessible to all.
Alternative Transportation
As a rapidly growing part of the Treasure Valley, Garden City’s transportation infrastructure is important to reducing traffic and ensuring commutes are kept to a minimum in the morning and evening.
As a City Council member, Gage will lead an effort to expand the public’s knowledge of their transportation options and ensure that those options are affordable, quick, and accessible. He will also coordinate with ACHD to create bike lanes along major roads and to make sure they are safe and consistent.
The Gardens of Garden City
Gage is a big believer of community engagement through natural spaces and will work to develop a gardening program in conjunction with the existing Garden City Pollinator Garden. He will also push to reconfigure regulations to allow more flexibility in backyard agriculture and sustainability, such as relaxing laws regarding backyard chicken coops to allow more households to raise chickens at home.
Social Programs
The Garden City Library has programs aimed at the young children and the elderly, but older children seem to be underserved in this regard.
As a City Council member, Gage will push to develop programs to serve teens and young adults with an emphasis on community care. This would provide opportunities for them to attend and volunteer at local events such as Greenbelt care days, community game nights, and food drives to support the local community.
